Retired in October 2026. LH Web Application 1.35.0 and later replace it. They add the lh_web_application-navigating class to body while the next page loads, and the theme draws the loading indicator. See LH Web Application’s Extending page. This plugin is no longer installed on LocalHero.
LH Navigation Listener showed a thin progress bar at the top of the screen while the next page loaded, when your site was running as an installed web app. In that mode the browser hides its own address bar and loading indicator, so without it a tap on a link can look as if nothing happened.
Features
- Only appears when the site is opened as an installed app (standalone display mode); visitors in an ordinary browser tab see nothing.
- Uses the browser Navigation API where available, and clears itself on errors, in-page anchor links, downloads and back-button returns.
- Tiny footprint: one small deferred script and a few lines of inline CSS, loaded in the footer.
- Themes can recolour the bar with two CSS custom properties, or restyle or remove it entirely.
- Respects the reduced-motion preference.
Getting started
Activate the plugin. There are no settings. Your theme must call wp_body_open(), as every theme built since WordPress 5.2 does.
