LH Xprofile Forms lets you show any BuddyPress xProfile field group as a form on an ordinary post or page, decoupled from the BuddyPress profile and signup screens.
By default BuddyPress only lets members edit xProfile fields on their own profile screen. That suits information members keep up to date themselves, but not data that only needs to be collected once, such as onboarding details or survey answers. This plugin puts a field group wherever it is needed, in context.
Usage
Add the xProfile Form block to a post or page and choose the field group it should show. In the block settings you can also change the submit button label, pick a page to go to after saving, and set the message logged-out visitors see instead of the form. The form edits the fields of the logged-in member viewing the page, and saves them exactly as the BuddyPress profile screen would.
If the chosen field group is later deleted or left with no fields, visitors see nothing, and anyone who can edit the page sees a notice in its place explaining why.
Upgrading from the shortcode (version 2.0.0)
Version 2.0.0 is a breaking change: the [lh_xprofile_form] shortcode has been removed, and any page still using it will show the shortcode as plain text. To convert a page, open it in the block editor, select the Shortcode block containing it and choose Transform to > xProfile Form; the field group and submit label carry over. Shortcodes with a redirect_url are not offered the transform, because the block stores its redirect as a page rather than a URL, so replace those with an xProfile Form block by hand and pick the page in the block settings. If you would rather keep the shortcode working while you convert, update to 1.5.0 first.
What you could use it for
- A step-by-step onboarding flow, with one field group per page.
- Member surveys and polls whose answers are stored against each member’s profile.
