LH Read Aloud adds a Listen to this page player block that reads a post or page aloud using the visitor’s own browser speech engine (the Web Speech API). There is no external service, account, API key or recorded audio, and nothing is tracked.
The player offers Play/Restart, Pause/Resume, Stop, four reading speeds and a progress bar. It prefers a voice matching the site language and on-device voices over cloud ones, reads the title and content in short chunks for reliability, and skips navigation, forms, media and hidden elements. It stays hidden in browsers that cannot speak.
The block is never inserted automatically. On block themes, place it in a template (it reads the post content block); on classic themes, a site plugin can render it with a source selector. Sites can also set headings to stop at or skip, and extra selectors to skip.
