LH Page Links To lets you make a post or page point to a URL of your choosing, on your own site or anywhere else, instead of its normal WordPress URL. Anyone who visits the post’s normal URL is redirected to the one you chose.
It started as a fork of Mark Jaquith’s Page Links To, rebuilt around the block editor with a simpler code base, and it redirects properly on password-protected posts.
Common uses
- Add navigation links to parts of your site that are not run by WordPress, or to resources on other sites.
- Show content published elsewhere (another blog, or a service like Medium) in your own posts stream. Give the post a title and a URL, and its title links to the content on the other site.
- List products sold by other retailers, perhaps with an affiliate code, alongside your own.
- Give something with a complicated address a short, readable one. Create a page called My Store, point it at the long URL, and share https://example.com/my-store/ instead.
How to use it
Edit a post or page in the block editor and open the Page Links To panel in the post settings sidebar. Enter the full URL you want it to point to, including https://, and update the post. Only valid full URLs are saved; to remove the link, clear the field and update the post again.
Posts and pages that link elsewhere are left out of the WordPress XML sitemap and the LH HTML Sitemap. In the admin post lists, a Link Url column (hidden by default, available under Screen Options) and a filter for posts with or without links show which ones redirect.
