Digital Sovereignty for everyone

Changelog

  • 1.3.3: Group-name autolinking no longer rebuilds the post. Mentions of a tagged group’s name are now linked by rewriting only the text between tags, so all other markup, including JSON held in block attributes, comes through exactly as written; previously any post mentioning one of its groups was round-tripped through DOMDocument, which re-quoted attributes and reserialised SVG and other tags. Text inside links and captions is still left alone, and text inside script, style, textarea and title elements is now skipped too, where a link would break it. Linked text keeps its original capitalisation, and the group link is escaped.
  • 1.3.2: Post content is no longer rebuilt on the front end just to fill in image alt text. Missing alt text on group-tagged images is now set with WordPress’s HTML API, which changes only those alt attributes and leaves the rest of the markup untouched. Previously every post was run through stripslashes() and a DOMDocument round trip, which stripped backslashes and re-serialised the markup; that broke JSON held in block attributes (for example GatherPress venue maps, which never became interactive) and removed backslashes from post text. Group-name autolinking also no longer strips backslashes.
  • 1.3.1: The personal startup image is now the newest photo tagged with the most of the member’s groups. Portrait photos still come first, then large ones; among those, the photo tagged with the most of the member’s own groups wins, and between equals the newest. This replaces the per-member hash, so team mates usually share the same photo, and it moves on as newer photos of their groups are tagged.
  • 1.3.0: Members now get a startup image of their own group. With LH Web Application, a signed-in member’s installed app starts with a photo tagged with one of their groups instead of the site’s default startup image: portrait photos first, then large ones, and among the best, a choice fixed per member by a hash of their user ID, so team mates get different photos and each keeps theirs as more photos are tagged. Images too small to fill a phone, or that LH Image CDN will not serve (such as protected attachments), are never used, and anyone signed out or without suitable tagged photos still gets the site default. The choice is cached per member for a day and reset when photos are tagged or deleted, or memberships change. The lh_bgt_startup_image_candidates and lh_bgt_startup_image_id filters can change the candidates and the final choice. Also fixes a caching bug: a member’s groups were cached under one key shared by everyone, so with a persistent object cache one member’s groups could be used for others for several minutes, for example when choosing a gallery’s featured image from the visitor’s own groups. Adds an index.php guard to includes/.
  • 1.2.0: Group tagging now works on posts and pages that use a block template: group names in the content link to their groups, group tags are listed with the post’s tags, logged-in members see a gallery post’s image chosen for their groups, and a post with no excerpt shows its group tags instead. All four were set up when the page body opened, but a block template renders its content before that, so none of them applied there. They are now set up before the page renders and still only act on the page body: after the body opens in classic and PHP templates, as before, or while a block template renders its markup. The page head (for example meta descriptions and share images) is left alone, as before. Feeds are not filtered. The group images shortcode and the fallback group avatar were set up when the theme’s header loaded, which block templates never do; they are now also set up before the page renders. Lh-tasks #149195.
