For the last two years I have been devoted to solving the problem of organising member driven organisations and doing that in a way that is good for everyone. That means two things:

  1. Using the best tools to provide a seamless and intuitive way for organisations and their members to run themselves and the best service for the specialist needs of those organisations.
  2. Doing this  ethically and openly. This means that organisations own their own data and intellectual property, are never locked in, users privacy is respected, and the tools that they use are open source.

As such I have a policy of releasing the code I have written to enable these aims as discrete plugins in the WordPress.org repository. I call this effort the local hero project.
