LH Buddypress Block Members lets members block one another, and lets staff block a member from the whole site. A personal block stops private messages passing between the two members in either direction. A site block strips the member down to read access until it is lifted or expires.
Features
- A Block / Unblock button on other members’ profiles. Blocks are mutual for messaging: a message to or from a blocked member is dropped for that recipient, while other recipients of the same message still get it. Staff who can edit or promote users are never filtered out.
- Site blocks set by staff on the user edit screen, with a reason and an optional end date. A blocked member keeps only the
readcapability (filterable withlh_bp_bms_allowed_capabilities_while_blocked); membership itself is untouched. A block whose end date has passed lapses on its own, with no cron. - A Delete button on profiles for super admins, which permanently deletes the member’s account after a confirmation.
- A Blocked/Suspended Member List block that lists site-blocked members with their reason.
- Blocked members are left out of the former members report from LH Buddypress Group Activities and Notifications.
How actions are submitted
Block, Unblock and Delete are POST forms with a WordPress nonce tied to the action and the member, never plain links, so prefetchers, link previews and crawlers cannot trigger them. Site blocks are stored as a term in a private user taxonomy, with the reason and end date kept against that relationship by LH Term Relationship Meta.
Requirements
BuddyPress, and LH Term Relationship Meta for site-block reasons and end dates.
