LH Baskerville is a child theme of Baskerville, the classic magazine-style theme by Anders Norén. It is the classic theme used by sites on the LocalHero network, and it adds what those sites need on top of the parent theme without changing its design. LH Blockerville is its standalone full-site-editing successor.
The theme is a hybrid: most pages still use Baskerville’s classic PHP templates, while selected post types can use block templates. Both paths share one source for the header, footer and post furniture, so a block-template page looks exactly like a classic one.
Features
- Block templates alongside classic ones. Opts the classic theme into block templates and block template parts, so individual post types can have a block template while everything else keeps its PHP template.
- Shared chrome blocks. Dynamic blocks (
lh/legacy-header,lh/legacy-footer,lh/legacy-post-meta,lh/legacy-sidebar,lh/legacy-comments) render the theme’s real header, footer, author box, post meta, sidebar and comments inside a block template. - Breadcrumbs. Shows WordPress core’s breadcrumbs block on singular pages, in classic and block templates alike, when core provides it.
- Block Bindings sources. Bindings for LH Knowledge Base entries and LH Portfolio entries, plus an
lh-hide-if-emptyclass that hides a bound block when its value is empty.
Requirements
The Baskerville parent theme must be installed. LH Knowledge Base and LH Portfolio are optional; the features that use them switch off when they are absent.
