- 2.0.4: Private sites are no longer archived. A site whose visibility is set to logged-in users, site members or administrators only (blog_public below 0, as set by lh-membership) sends nothing to the Wayback Machine: no pings and no CDX lookups, and its Wayback column is hidden. archive.org can only ever capture the login page for such sites, and the requests were using up the shared network budget. Sites set to discourage search engines (0) are still archived. Override per site with the new lh_wayback_machine_is_site_archivable filter. When a private site is made public, edited items are sent as usual and the daily backstop picks up the rest of its queue.
- 2.0.3: Fix: a 403 from the Wayback Machine no longer pauses archiving across the whole network. The archive returns 403 for domains excluded at the owner's request, so 403 now blocks only that domain (for a week by default, filter lh_wayback_machine_return_host_block); the excluded site's queue sleeps until the block ends instead of running every minute. 429 Too Many Requests remains the only network-wide backoff (one hour, filter lh_wayback_machine_return_backoff, which no longer receives the status code). The network-wide pause left by 2.0.2 is cleared on upgrade.
- 2.0.2: Saves now share the network-wide limit with CDX lookups, and a refusal from the Wayback Machine pauses everything. After 2.0.0 every site also began sending its backlog of never-archived items, five a minute each, so the limit introduced in 2.0.1 for lookups alone was not enough and the Wayback Machine moved from Too Many Requests to Forbidden. All requests to the Wayback Machine, saves and lookups together, now share one budget of 4 a minute across the network (filter lh_wayback_machine_return_requests_per_minute, replacing 2.0.1's lh_wayback_machine_return_cdx_per_minute). A 429 Too Many Requests pauses all requests on the network for an hour and a 403 Forbidden for six hours (filter lh_wayback_machine_return_backoff, given the status code, replacing lh_wayback_machine_return_cdx_backoff); resubmits that wait for a reply are checked the same way. Items waiting to be sent are not touched during a pause and the next run is scheduled for when it ends. The backlog is worked through slowly as a result.
- 2.0.1: Stops the plugin overloading the Wayback Machine's CDX index across a network. Every site checks its own items, but they all share one server, so after the 2.0.0 upgrade sites ran their one-off lookups for older items at the same time and the index answered Too Many Requests. Lookups now share one network-wide budget of 4 a minute (filter lh_wayback_machine_return_cdx_per_minute), and a Too Many Requests answer pauses all lookups on the network for an hour (filter lh_wayback_machine_return_cdx_backoff) without counting against any item. Also fixed: an item that was already due did not schedule the next run, and a pre-2.0.0 item whose lookup failed could have its last-sent time shifted by the site's time zone more than once.
- 2.0.0: Rebuilt so archiving never holds up the site and every snapshot is confirmed. Snapshots are now requested from the Wayback Machine without waiting for its reply, which previously took longer than the 5 second timeout and left an error in the HTTP request log on almost every save. Each item is then checked against the Wayback Machine's CDX index an hour after it was sent, and hourly after that; after two checks without a capture it is resubmitted, this time waiting up to 30 seconds, and after two resubmits it is marked Not confirmed (typically pages behind a login). Saves are deduplicated: an item is sent only once it has been unchanged for a minute and is no longer open in the block editor, and never more than once every 15 minutes, so a burst of edits produces one snapshot of the final version. Background jobs now run through Action Scheduler when it is available and WP-Cron otherwise, with a per-site lock so two runs never overlap, and the next run is scheduled for when the next item falls due. The Wayback column on post, page and term lists now shows each item's state, when it was last sent, and a link to its latest confirmed snapshot. Items sent by earlier versions get one lookup to record their latest snapshot and are not resubmitted unless edited again. Timing and limits are filterable (lh_wayback_machine_return_settle_delay, _return_reping_gap, _return_check_interval, _return_max_misses, _return_max_attempts, _return_batch_size), and lh_wayback_machine_init_plugin disables the plugin without deactivating it. Also brought up to current standards: one class per concern, plugin_version() read from the header, License and requirement headers (WordPress 6.5, PHP 7.4), escaped output, and removal of the unused user archiving code.

- 1.01: Added a class check.
- 1.00: Initial release.
