Business Model

LocalHero is currently in its testing phase, and everything on the network is free.

Now: free while we test

Organisations that join now get a site on the LocalHero network at no cost, with everything the platform offers. In return we ask for feedback, since the platform is still bedding down.

Later: paid hosting

Once the platform is stable, hosted sites will be charged for. Organisations already on the network will get plenty of notice before any charges begin.

Advertising

Sites in the testing phase and paying sites will never carry advertising. If a free tier is offered in future, its sites may carry ads.

What we will never do

• No selling or mining of data. Members’ information belongs to the organisation that holds it.
• No lock-in. The core platform is open source, and your data exports in standard formats, so you can always leave with everything including a working site.
