Sortable tables now work on pages that use a block template. Block templates render the post content before the page head and before wp_body_open, so the content filter that looks for tables with the sortable class, which was only added on wp_body_open, never ran there and the sorting script and stylesheet were not loaded. The filter is now attached on template_redirect, but it still only acts on the page body: after wp_body_open in classic and PHP templates (as before), or while a Post Content block is rendering in block templates. Content filtered for the head, such as excerpts built for meta description or Open Graph tags, is never inspected. In block templates the script and stylesheet are now loaded in the head. Tables are now detected with WordPress's HTML tag processor instead of a full DOMDocument parse, and pages without a table are skipped straight away, so pages render faster. Feeds are no longer inspected. Requires WordPress 6.4. Lh-tasks #149192.
