LH Places implements the WordPress geodata standard and extends it with full GeoJSON. Store a location against any post type that opts in, whether it is a single point, a line, a polygon or a whole collection of shapes. Show those places on Leaflet maps and publish them as GeoJSON, GeoRSS and page meta tags. No Google Maps API key is needed.
Features
- Standard geodata: latitude, longitude and address are stored in the geo_latitude, geo_longitude and geo_address post meta keys that other WordPress tools already understand.
- Full GeoJSON: a geo_json field holds any geometry, and a point entered as latitude and longitude is kept in sync with it automatically.
- Spatial queries: a bundled copy of wp-geometa-lib mirrors GeoJSON into spatial tables, so WP_Query can find posts by distance, containment or intersection.
- Editing: a Geo Data panel in the block editor (with Use my location and Import from media, which reads GPS data from attached photos) and a matching meta box in the classic editor.
- Map block: an LH Places Map block that draws geo-tagged posts on a Leaflet map with street and satellite layers and an optional numbered list.
- Open data: public REST endpoints returning GeoJSON, GeoRSS in feeds, and ICBM and geo meta tags on single posts.
- Integrations: GatherPress venues get geodata automatically, and The Events Calendar venue coordinates are copied into the standard fields.
Spatial indexing needs MariaDB 10.2.8+ or MySQL 5.7.8+. Everything else works on any database WordPress supports.
