Since WordPress 6.4 a site created on a new install has attachment pages disabled, and core then redirects every attachment URL to the image file at template_redirect priority 10, which ran before this plugin’s wrapper, so a clicked gallery image opened the bare file (seen on Princes Park Touch). The gallery and single image wrappers are now served at priority 9, before that redirect; plain attachment URLs still redirect as core intends.

The content filter was added when the page body opened, but a block template renders its content before that, so on those pages gallery images linked straight to the image file. The filter is now added before the page renders and still only acts on the page body: after the body opens in classic and PHP templates, as before, or while a block template renders its markup. Content run for the page head is left alone, as before. Feeds are not filtered. Lh-tasks #149196.
