Group-name autolinking no longer rebuilds the post. Mentions of a tagged group's name are now linked by rewriting only the text between tags, so all other markup, including JSON held in block attributes, comes through exactly as written; previously any post mentioning one of its groups was round-tripped through DOMDocument, which re-quoted attributes and reserialised SVG and other tags. Text inside links and captions is still left alone, and text inside script, style, textarea and title elements is now skipped too, where a link would break it. Linked text keeps its original capitalisation, and the group link is escaped.

Post content is no longer rebuilt on the front end just to fill in image alt text. Missing alt text on group-tagged images is now set with WordPress's HTML API, which changes only those alt attributes and leaves the rest of the markup untouched. Previously every post was run through stripslashes() and a DOMDocument round trip, which stripped backslashes and re-serialised the markup; that broke JSON held in block attributes (for example GatherPress venue maps, which never became interactive) and removed backslashes from post text. Group-name autolinking also no longer strips backslashes.
