LocalHero brings the everyday work of an association, or of your own affairs, into one place. Everything below is in production use, except where it is marked as experimental.
Members and people
- Registration and accounts: secure sign-up with a validated email address, one login across every site on the network, two-factor authentication and Google sign-in.
- Membership: membership records and roles, with content restricted to members where you want it.
- Profiles: members keep their own details up to date, under your organisation's branding.
- Contacts and CRM: contact records, notes and history for the people and organisations you deal with.
Events and sport
- Events: sessions, games and meetings, with RSVPs and calendars.
- Check-ins: a sign-on form for players and attendees at the event.
- Competitions: teams, seasons and fixtures, with season rollover.
Communication
- Email: queued sending, so large mail-outs go out reliably.
- SMS: bulk text messages to members.
- Notifications: web push notifications and live on-site notifications.
- Private feeds: each member gets their own feed of what is relevant to them.
- Social network: activity feeds, groups and messaging, shared across all sites on the network, so a new organisation doesn't start in an empty room.
Running the organisation
- Governance documents: constitution, policies and procedures, each with a review date.
- Meetings: minutes linked to the meeting they record.
- Payments and shop: registrations, merchandise and other payments.
- Tasks: a shared task list that people and AI assistants work from together.
- Knowledge base: procedures and "how we do things here", readable by people and by AI.
Working with AI
- Connect your own AI: members connect the AI assistant they choose through a secure sign-in, and can revoke it at any time.
- Hundreds of actions: the AI can list members, create events, draft emails and more, but only what its user is already allowed to do.
- Screens in the chat: forms, tables and calendars appear inside the AI conversation, so people can act on personal data without the AI reading it.
- Human approval: important changes are proposed by the AI and wait for a person to approve them.
- AI-readable site: every page is available as Markdown, and the site publishes an llms.txt guide for AI tools.
Open standards and your data
- Contacts on your phone: member contacts sync to phones and email clients (CardDAV).
- The fediverse: posts can be followed from Mastodon and other ActivityPub services.
- Leaving: data exports in standard formats, and an organisation that leaves keeps a working site.
Built in, not bought in
- Sites from templates: a new organisation's site is set up from a template in minutes.
- Monitoring: audit trail, error logs and web traffic logs, with no third-party services.
- Backups: regular database backups.
Experimental
- Calendar sync: events straight into phone calendars (CalDAV).
- Relationships: a linked-data layer describing how people and organisations are connected.
